WATCH: Mariano Rivera Emotional in Final Home Game
Yankees closer Mariano Rivera walked off Yankees Stadium for the final time in his illustrious career on Thursday.
Rivera, who is set to retire after the season, was taken out of the game with two outs in the ninth. Andy Pettitte, who is also retiring after the season, replaced Joe Girardi and went to get Rivera along with Derek Jeter. Pettitte and Rivera embraced the moment on the mound as the closer was emotional. He received a standing ovation from the crowd, his own dugout and the Tampa Bay Rays.
The 43-year-old is the all-time leader in saves (652) and has a historic 42 postseason saves. He is also the final player to ever sport the No. 42.
It was a special moment with likely not a dry eye in the house Thursday night.
